Homemade Christmas #3 The Princess Chair ASCP and What?!?!

You may remember the vanity I did for my sister.  Well, since mom gave it to her, it wasn't a Christmas gift...BUT what's a Princess Vanity without a Princess Chair?  I'd been looking for a chair to do-over since I finished the vanity, but nothing struck my fancy.  So, one day, while on my "lunch" break from the 9-5, I spotted this beauty!

ANOTHER Christmas Tree?!?

Someday, I'll get my Kitchen and Bathrooms renovations posts done.  But until then...let's see another Christmas Tree...shall we?!?  Last year (before the greatest renovation in the history of my renovations) my tree in my bathroom was purple and green, BUT, since we I renovated it a couple of months ago and got rid of the purple, I decided to move most of the purple and green decor onto the kids tree -- some of the purple went to the peacock tree.  So, for the bathroom I went more for the "recycled rustic"... so here's the tree that I did for the bathroom this year along with some fun Christmas stuff... Blues and browns...I've been wanting that scheme in my house for some time!  Grandma had a few ornaments that were blue and they fit wonderfully!

Taming the Chaos #2 FREE Family Pictures...Let the Debacle Begin

So, last week, in the midst of the chaos of the Little Man's Birthday party, the Big Man's Birthday, finishing random projects, finishing a couple of Christmas gifts, getting Christmas crap stuff out of storage, moving unfinished furniture projects to storage,  pitching cleaning out toys, two Thanksgiving dinners last weekend...yes one Saturday, and one Sunday...I realized...I haven't ordered Christmas Cards....then I panicked because we don't have any family photos this year.  Yes I know.  Mom of the year right!?!  (START FREAKING OUT NOW!!!)  We have LOTS of pictures, but I'm the photographer, and as far as using a tripod and the timer...FORGET ABOUT IT!  Here's what would have happened...we would be telling kids..."smile"  "it's going to take your picture"..."no, Jordan, look at the camera!"  "Parker, stop kicking your dad, just look at the camera!"  "K, say cheese!!!" AND, probably when the camera finally did take the photo, if it wasn't knocked down by the overweight black lab's tail, you'd have seen something like the intro to The Simpons!!!

Goodwill Lamp "Creation" #2 and a little Bit O Christmas!

FINALLY!!!!!  Here's the second reveal for the Homemade Christmas.  I've already mentioned my bro and family are moving into a "new" house...so, for Christmas I've been making things for their rooms.  Last week, I showed you Goodwill Lamp Do-Over #1 the lamp for my niece.  If you missed it CLICK HERE.  For the boys, this lamp and a table made out of a baseball bat.  Hopefully I'll post that next week?!?  So, this isn't considered a "Do-Over" because it wasn't "done" in the first place.  I CREATED IT.  Here's how it happened...one day during lunch at the 9-5 I frequented one of my favorite places...GOOD-TO-THA-WILL!!!  I spotted this beauty...

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Trees.......Wait?! Kids decorations and $3.00 Tree Skirt?!

Yes, I know.  I was supposed to post Goodwill Lamp #2 Homemade Christmas Reveal!  Actually, I was supposed to post that yesterday, but let me tell you...I've mentioned before how we're living in a 1400 sq. ft. condo.  More reasons than one, but mainly because the longer we're here, the more our budget for the "forever home" increases.  Goal: be debt free when we move.  I've moved so many times...(every year for 5 years while in college and in Chicago at that...and then to San Diego, then here...not doing it again) that just to think about it makes me sick to my stomach.  The thought of packing, and carrying...ugh!  So, since I refuse to move...EVER AGAIN after this one....we're waiting to find THE house that makes us WANT to move.  Plus, another benefit?!?  NO SHOVELING, NO MOWING, JUST BEAUTIFYING~!  The HOA does all the grunt work, so all I have to do is plant beautiful flowers...or not (if I don't feel like it)...AND there's lots of stuff in the yard that I'm taking with us.  Lots of sentimental stuff from Grandma's house...so, we obviously can't move until we can safely transplant.  Sounds crazy, but there's lots of stuff that's coming!  So, are we busting at the seams?  YES!  Do we have a storage unit?  Or two?  Yes! Sooner than later, we're going to have to...but I'm putting it off as long as I can.  So, HERE'S WHERE I'VE BEEN...AND WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING...

It was All Fun and Games Until I was Splattered With POO!

Yes, you read that correctly.  Allow me to explain...  Wednesday is bowling night for Hubby.  I'm home alone with the Shit-lins...(no projects happen on Wednesdays-the only thing noteworthy about Wednesdays is that my house looks like a damn F-5 Tornado went through it...I'm fortunate if I have time to let the over-weight dog out to potty!)  So, last night we did a little craft because Hubby's Birthday is today....here are the monsters painting Daddy's birthday cards!  Aren't they awesomeness!?!?!  Just wait.

Taming the Chaos #1 Christmas on a Budget.

I've come to the conclusion that one of the main reasons I love bloggieland is I fit in here!  My OCD...ADHD seem to be "common"...  Because how else can all of us get all this crap stuff done?!?  In "non-bloggieville" I'm seen as a superhero; a mystical character one whose batteries never need replaced. And it's awesomeness! I'm not going to lie.  I don't mind being viewed as extraordinary!  In fact, I eat it up because well, it boosts my self-esteem (not that it needs it but if they only saw the epic failures, creations gone bad, and piles of unfinished projects, they'd know...lol).  On the other hand, when I started blogging, it was a HUGE dose of reality, smack dab in my face!  And it has been thus far, good for me.  Here in bloggieland, I'm ordinary.  Just another blogger that has an over stuffed plate, millions of unfinished projects, and bigger dreams.  You're probably wondering...so why does she like it here.  Because I'm not alone!  Even the most popular/most visited blogs (the ones I follow) have their failures posted all over cyberspace...and guess what?!?  It's okay.  I don't follow "perfect" blogs...I follow honest ones.  Because I know all about my shortcomings, and TRUST me...I don't need a daily RSS feed to remind me of them.  So, I'm going to keep it real and occasionally toss in my crapifications gone bad, epic failures, good times in mommy land, and everything else that's imperfect.  I'm going to try to (I'm still new at this so if I'm not using the proper terminology somebody help me out) start a series?!?!  And, try to post things that I do to tame the chaos at least once a week.  Little tips that help me out.

This week I give you, Taming the Chaos #1...Christmas on a Budget.

1. Don't wait until Black Friday to start your shopping. I shop year round and have a "gift drawer" that in the event of an emergency, I'm okay.  If you wait until the last minute, you're more than likely going to spend more than you'd have liked.  This is for birthdays, christenings, and any other occasion.

2. Keep a list of what you've bought and who it was for, and how much you spent.  AND THE ORIGINAL PRICE AS WELL.  This way not only will you NOT forget, but you'll also not fall victim to the "well, I got it on sale, so I'll give something else in addition to..." There's an app for this too...

Faux Mercury Glass Tutorial

Okay, so here’s how my day started out…

Alarm went off at 6:08.  (Yes, I know…why not 5:30?)  Hubby has day off…I don’t have to get the “shit-lins” up and going.  So, I was given the fabulous gift of sleeping in.  Made coffee, let dog out, fed dog, scoped poo, scoped cat box,  spray painted lantern lamp ($5 GW find)….been primed for some time, but I couldn’t decide on colors.  Added some Ovation Opulence Pearl (pic from Centsational Girl) to Sister's Christmas Vanity Chair ($10 thrift find), showered, dressed, edited blog for a bit, washed out sippy-cups, refilled sippy-cups, applied make-up, delivered filled sippy-cups to sleeping monsters (enjoying the hard-life in bed with dad), made my coffee to-go cup, realized I needed photos for this post…took some of those, gave awesome day kisses to sipping half-sleeping kids and hubby, told the dog to be good girl, walked out into my workshop garage to get to car, saw spot on lantern lamp I missed, put crap in car, ran back into workshop garage, painted a bit, hopped into car, and was on my way to the 9-5.  GREAT MORNING!!  And I sincerely mean that…any time I can get going on time while still working on projects is a good morning. On my way to 9-5 thought of lampshade ideas for lantern lamp, then BAM!  Hit me like a ton of bricks…CHEVRON!!!  Can’t wait for the lamp reveal!

Perry the Platypus!!!

I get it…it’s after Halloween.  However, perhaps you’ll get a clearer glimpse of my daily life, and the chaos that surrounds the chaos (Halloween was just a prime example).  Also, the birthday theme is also Perry the Playtpus, so next week when I post about that, you'll know where the resentment came from.
